We planted an “early girl” tomato in this 5 gallon bucket. After drilling four holes around the bottom perimeter of the bucket, we placed some river rock in the bottom 5 inches. Next, potting soil was placed over the rocks, just covering them. Potting mix and peat moss were combined it about a 50-50 ratio and dumped over the potting soil. After that, the tomato plant was placed in its hole and a gallon of water that contained 1 ounce of gypsum and 1 tablespoon of miracle grow tomato plant food was poured over the roots of the tomato plant.
