Growing your own tomatoes is simple if you follow my advise. I find it comfortable to sow the tomato seeds in a seedtray, transplant them into 9 cm pots when they are young. Then let them grow a while in a protected environment and finally plant them out in your garden. That is, if you live in a relatively mild climate. In colder climates, tomatoes should be grown in a greenhouse.
There a thousands of tomato varieties (cultivars, actually), available in most countries of the world. Seeds can easily be sent by post, so everybody can cultivate any tomato he of she wishes. Good luck!
